This is the first reel of The Doors' recording at the Bakersfield Civic Auditorium on August 21, 1970. All circulating copies seem to have a sketchy lineage though we do know The Doors leaked this reel in an effort to use it as trade bait to acquire rare recordings for their Bright Midnight label. So it's likely not too far from the master, especially if the leaked copy was a master clone on CDR.

After comparing this version to a few others floating around, this is the best sounding one I've heard. I took the original CD I received, removed the gaps between tracks, and amplified the entire show to match up with the only officially released song from this concert ("Love Me Two Times" - Bright Midnight Sampler). Just after "When The Music's Over" this copy switches from stereo to mono and after "Mystery Train" switches back to stereo. I smoothed out these transitions a bit to make them less jarring. I also noticed that the bootleg "Old Stone Road" has at least one drop-out during "Ship Of Fools" and this version does not. (Note: "Roadhouse Blues" is cut on the master as well.)

The unsurfaced second reel is said to contain "Light My Fire" and "The End" in addition to "Love Me Two Times" and perhaps some other songs. Hopefully, if The Doors ever decide to officially release this show (and so far they've said they won't), we'll get to hear the rest of this great recording.
